When Paul Dubrule, co-founder of the ACCOR Group, decided to turn his attention to the world of wine, he certainly did not do things by halves…
In 1973, after falling under the spell of a country estate in the Luberon, he acquired a few parcels of vines before founding his own domain in 1986.
To achieve this, he treated himself to the very best: a massal selection created with the help of the late Alain Graillot, who shaped the glory days of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, and the acquisition of new plots in the communes of Cadenet, Cucuron, and Lourmarin to completely redesign the entire vineyard.
In that same spirit, he later entrusted the transformation of the estate to the renowned architect Jean Michel Wilmotte, who designed a modern and contemporary building that blends majestically into the Luberon Regional Nature Park.

To bring it full circle, in 2018 Paul Dubrule handed over the general management of the estate to his son-in-law, Thierry Mueth.
To cultivate 40 hectares of vines, the estate equipped itself with exceptional working facilities.
During the tour, masterfully led by cellar master Jean-Paul Aubert—who has been at the helm since 1986—one quickly realizes that nothing has been left to chance when vinifying every single cuvée. Everything is designed to scrupulously preserve the integrity and freshness of the grapes arriving in the early morning.
From cutting-edge temperature-controlled vats to the famous Austrian oak casks by Franz Stockinger that the whole world is vying for, the management has invested in the very best, with the singular ambition of crafting great wines in the Luberon.

And the result is truly magnificent…
The rosés show extreme precision, crispness, and wonderful drinkability, with a delicate salmon hue. Indeed, at La Cavale, no white grapes are blended into the rosés—white varieties are reserved to craft exceptional white wines on superb clay terroirs—and certainly no PVPP molecules or other additives are used…
Across all three colors, the "Petite Cavale" range offers wines that highlight the fruit and purity of the terroirs, while the "La Cavale" range features aging in acacia casks for the whites, and the reds are aged in the famous Stockinger oak casks to achieve a perfectly balanced cuvée of rare elegance.
If you have the opportunity (and the good fortune!) to spend your holidays in the Luberon, do not miss the Thursday evening gatherings in the gardens of La Cavale featuring live music and food trucks—just be sure to book well in advance… it is well worth the detour 😉!
And if you cannot make it, take comfort: you will find the wines at the very same price on our website!
